Kyoshi Kinchen is an 8th Degree Black Belt and has been teaching Martial Arts for over 30 years. He is the Chief Instructor in charge of all instruction at Kinchen Martial Arts.
Kyoshi Kinchen enlisted in the Air Force, after high school graduation, as a Security Forces Apprentice. Assigned to the second largest U.S. Air Force Base in the world, and among over 900 Security Forces members, Kyoshi Kinchen was selected to join the Emergency Services Team (S.W.A.T.). At just 19 years old, he was the youngest member ever selected to this elite team of 15 members. He was selected for three consecutive special assignments. First, as a Security Forces Instructor at the U.S. Air Force Security Forces Academy. Second, he given an assignment as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter in Richmond, Virginia. Finally, he would serve as a Leadership & Management Instructor and Superintendent at Tyndall AFB, Florida.

During his 20 years in the Air Force, Kyoshi Kinchen has trained and inspired countless students on various disciplines of TaeKwonDo, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Kajukenbo, Kali, Kickboxing and Free Sparring. Kyoshi Kinchen has instructed some of our U.S. Air Force Pilots, Navigators, and Security Forces Members, as well as various Law Enforcement and Civilian organizations in restraint techniques and defense tactics. He has guided numerous students in attaining the rank of Black Belt, as well as conducted promotion testing of Instructors.

Through his instruction, inspirational methods of teaching, and tremendous desire to give back, Kyoshi Kinchen has received various honors and awards, among them earning his induction into both The Worldwide Martial Arts Hall of Fame (2000) and The World Karate Union Hall of Fame (1998), as well as winning multiple TaeKwonDo, Open Martial Arts, Judo and Kickboxing Champion Titles.
While in the Air Force, he also earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration, with a concentration in Strategic Leadership. In 2006 he was selected as the Air Education and Training Commands Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, and his commands nominee for the United States Air Forces Outstanding Airmen of the Year. Kyoshi Kinchen attained the rank of Master Sergeant prior to his retirement from active duty.
Kyoshi Kinchen has a remarkable gift for teaching and developing a warrior’s heart, overcoming self-imposed limitations, and building the confidence to handle life’s situations and conflicts – whether that be a pop quiz in school, helping a Mom get her shape back and find her strength, or a home invasion. He does so by dedicating himself to his discipline and students, while encouraging his students to rise to their physical, mental and spiritual best; learning to BE RESILIENT!
